Gaskets

Gaskets, shaft seal rings and sealing washers ensure that two parts can be joined together leak-free. These can be parts of the same material as well as two different types of material. For example, a plastic thermostat housing is screwed against a cast iron or aluminium engine block. Depending on the parts and the application, a paper, rubber or aluminium gasket is fitted. There are also various types of liquid gaskets or sealants which act as gaskets. This includes the Dirko collection from Elring.

When assembling a new part, it is always advisable to fit a new gasket; only in a few cases can certain gaskets be reused.
